1. About This Service

This website provides a free, publicly accessible database of digitised historical census records from the Slovak lands (primarily the 1930 and 1940 census). The service is operated by Archivio o.z. and is intended for genealogical, historical, and academic research.

2. Contractual Relationship

By creating an account on this website, you enter into a legal agreement with the operator (Archivio o.z.) governed by these Terms of Service. This agreement defines your rights and obligations as a user and the conditions under which you may use the service. If you do not agree with these terms, you may not create an account.

3. User Accounts

Browsing and searching the database does not require registration. Creating a user account allows you to contribute to the database (add or edit records) subject to editorial review.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use automated scrapers or bots to mass-download data without prior written consent
• Use the database for commercial purposes without prior written consent
• Introduce inaccurate, fabricated, or malicious content
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users or the operator
• Attempt to compromise the security or availability of the service

5. Voluntary Contributions

Voluntary contributions are not a payment for a service, subscription, or product.

You may choose to support the operation of this website through a voluntary financial contribution. The following conditions apply unconditionally:

• A contribution is a donation, not a purchase. Making a contribution does not entitle you to any specific feature, service level, uptime guarantee, priority support, or any other benefit beyond those available to all users free of charge.
• No service is sold. This website is provided free of charge to all users regardless of whether they have contributed or not. A contribution carries no expectation of service in return.
• No right of withdrawal. Because a voluntary contribution is a donation and not a payment for goods or services, the statutory consumer right of withdrawal (14-day cooling-off period) does not apply. If you believe a contribution was made in error, contact us at info@archivio.sk and we will review the situation on a case-by-case basis.
• Payment processing is handled by your and/or our bank. By making a contribution you agree to their terms of service.

6. Accuracy of Historical Data

The census records on this website are historical documents that have been digitised and transcribed. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, transcription errors, omissions, and ambiguities inherent in the original documents may exist. The operator does not warrant the completeness or accuracy of the data and accepts no liability for decisions made on its basis.

7. Intellectual Property

The historical census data is sourced from public archival collections and is in the public domain. The database structure, software, design, and any original editorial content are the property of Archivio o.z. and may not be reproduced without prior written permission.

8. Account Suspension and Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently delete accounts that:

• Violate these Terms of Service
• Introduce false, malicious, or harmful content
• Are used for automated or commercial data extraction without consent

You may request deletion of your own account at any time by contacting us at info@archivio.sk. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this service, including any reliance on the accuracy of historical data.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
